With total traction power

At the heart of the Saab 9-3X is the leading technology xwd. This is an intelligent, active system that continuously distributes engine drive torque between front and rear axles as needed for optimal stability and traction in all conditions. To optimize traction xwd Saab incorporates an innovative pre-participation of the rear wheels. Unlike all conventional traction systems, this eliminates the need to detect front wheel before slipping back of the unit is activated.

The hardware includes an electronically controlled torque transfer devices (TTD), the power supply varies between the axles. A hydraulic valve increases or decreases the pressure on the wet clutch plates inside the TTD progressively participate or withdraw from the rear axle. The degree of slip dictates how much drive is transmitted to the rear wheels. The setting of standard limited slip rear differential (ELSD) operates on the same principle, unity over division of the axis of the wheel has more traction.

The 2.0 Turbo petrol engine offers a powerful 210hp and therefore fits right Saab-sizing of the production of the main power of a bigger engine but with fuel economy and lower emissions benefits of a lower capacity of 2.0 liters, thanks to a turbo charger. This all-alloy engine also produces 221 pounds-feet of torque (300 Nm) between 2500-4000rpm and can accelerate the Saab 9-3X 0 to 60 mph in just 8.2 seconds. A six-speed manual and automatic transmission is available.

The diesel variant, a 1.9 TTiD dual turbo engine produces an impressive 180hp and 295 pounds feet claw (400nm) of torque through the front wheels, yet maintains low emissions of 144 g / km. This engine is also available with manual and automatic transmission.
